It's amazing how some people can randomly just show up in your life when you least expect it. Today I met someone who I know is going to be a HUGE posotive influence on me...simply because we saw each other riding on our boards and instantly we had a connection....skateboarding. Now, I dont know this guy very well yet, but we did skate for over 2 hours today and just by talking to him for that long I dont think we met by coincedence; there was a reason behind it. Lately I've been skating, and thinking about skateboarding constantly...about how I'm grateful to have it in my life, and also how I want to pursue it more and more and become better and grow as a skateboarder. This is a new attitude for me and it is a very sincere intention and my point is...as soon as you start to believe in something (ex. I'm going to get better at skateboarding!) then magically this guy appears out of nowhere who used to be a sponsored skater (for outer limitz) and says he's down to skate everyday for the rest of the year! I for sure think it's a sign, that when a person puts out an intention like that, the first thing that starts to change are the people you surround yourself with. New people start emerging that specifically benefit your needs, and I just think its incredible to think back on how many skateboarders i've met, just since the beginning of the semester. Now I feel like i'm "in the loop" because I'm connecting to the main skateboarding group at my college. and i'm grateful to be in my situation. Just like any other sport, if you want to progress in skateboarding it pays to know the right people. If you have a strong group of friends that are a POSITIVE influence on you and constantly help you out and just support you...there's no doubt you'll learn much faster! If you don't have this "core" group of friends i'm referring to then thats a first step you need to take. It's so easy to go out and meet other skaters. People are always down to skate with new people so my advice is....if you dont know the right people go out there, skate, have fun, and it will fall into place. Man, it's been an awesome day!
